Variables
Western Scrub-Jay
Occurred the most disproportionately in western Oregon hexagons
with May precipitation (hex. med.) of less than 97 mm and April
minimum temperature (hexagon min), more than 0 C. Near the Coast,
it is especially likely to be associated with hexagons whose July
maximum temperature (hex. max.) is 27-31 C. In eastern Oregon, it
occurred mostly in hexagons with either (a) little or no acreage in
public ownership, (b) more than 6% agricultural land, or (c) located
near Nevada border. The logistic regression analysis showed positive
or negative association with agricultural lands, big sagebrush
shrubland, ponderosa pine mixed conifer forest (Northeast Oregon),
mixed conifer forest (Northeast Oregon), total freshwater habitat,
elevation (hex. avg.), the extent of public land, April minimum
temperature (hex. avg.), April minimum temperature (hex. max.), May
minimum temperature (hex. avg.), June minimum temperature (hex.
max.), July precipitation (hex. med.), and July precipitation (hex.
min.).
